2377. An AMN2 Spadegrip for a Browning Machine Gun, the trigger is the small knurled plate in the center:































2378. A drip torch made by the Panama Pump Company, used for controlled burns by firemen and farmers:






























2379. A router plane, used for finishing up shallow mortices such as hinge gains, inlay, doorlocks, and trimming tenons:

































2380. A canvas strap wrench, it was made for use on enameled pipe:



























2381. A beer growler, before beer was sold in bottles if someone wanted beer outside of the saloon, it was usually draught beer filled and carried out in one of these containers:

































2382. A Civil War anesthesia mask, it was constructed in such a way that a cloth could be put on it and then snapped into position, the mask was placed over the patient's nose and mouth and then drops from an ether bottle were dripped onto the cloth:

    2382. is a part of an applicator for chloroform...

  2. 2379 looks like a router plane with a broken base.

    I've seen tools similar to 2380 as oil filter wrenches, so I suspect that 2380 is some kind of adjustable wrench for round objects (pipes and things).

  9. My grandmother had a scar on her neck from where her sister spilled ether on her. My grandmother was in labor, and her sister was assisting the doctor by dripping ether onto the mask, but her nerves caused her to shake and spill the bottle.

  11. GREAT recipe! I have started making my own laundry detergent only recently - and love it - but don't have a pretreatment spray - These are EASY ingredients and I'm going to give this a try!!! Thanks for posting it!
