2454. Text next to this museum display read: "Set of seven steel caulking chisels used on the Great Lakes schooner Mary A. Gregory, c. 1900. Captain John Harry Woltman used these chisels on the schooner to drive caulk between the wooden planks of the ship. Some of the chisels have his initials "J.H.W" inscribed on them."

ReplyDeleteThese are masonry tools. One for severing bricks and the other is for cleaning out mortar joints.

2450 is a hook for a bag rack to hang mail bags and pouches. They slide on a pipe and 4 of them hang each bag. When the bag is full you just flip them up and they slide out of the holes in the bag and it drops so you can tie it out. Russ Retired USPS
