3224. A magnetic measuring gauge, "...for determining by magnetic principles the thickness of non-magnetic plating or coating disposed upon a magnetic metallic surface; the thickness of magnetic coatings upon non-magnetic surfaces; the thickness of magnetic sheet materials, and the relative spacing between layers or sheets of magnetic materials," patent number 2,625,585:

3225. This is a mainspring vise for installing the spring in a flintlock gun. Before firing the weapon, the compressed mainspring is held by the tumber, and when the trigger is pulled the power of the spring is then transmitted to the hammer.

3226. This is a replica Confederate torpedo for guarding their harbors from Union ships, they "were constructed from available wooden barrels, then filled with gun powder and fitted with a contact detonator. Streamlined ends were added to lessen the effects of tides and currents. The Union Navy lost more than 40 ships to these torpedoes." The actual size of these mines was three to four feet long.

  2. 3225 - may help take the wow out of a piece of metal such as a saw blade.
3228 - could be an Ice Chipper

  3. 3227 - The handle does not look as though it is mounted poperly. Because of the angle iron position the handle cannot be held in a normal fashion.

  5. 3225 Mainspring clamp. A vital tool if you are working on the lock mechanism of a Flintlock musket, rifle, shotgun or pistol.

  6. 3226 is a Civil War era mine, known back then as a Torpedo. As in: "Damn The Torpedoes! Full Speed Ahead!"

  7. 3223 Appears to be a wedge setter for a typo press. Two opposing wedges are placed against the line up of letters and the wedges are tightened against one another and the line of characters using this tool.

  8. 3227 looks a lot like a really overbuild scraper handle.

  10. 3223 Looks like a tightening key for a drill chuck. Obviously something industrial sized. I'm not familiar with a typo press as mentioned earlier, but that sounds logical as well.
