  3. 1796 looks like a tool for fly-tying.. the little thing that holds the spool of thread and you can wrap the thread around the fly/hook with this...

    The part on the end is a solid piece of metal, not sure how that would hold a spool of thread. I did a patent search on this idea but didn't find anything.

    Yea, I noticed that too.. Below is an example of what I was thinking, but yea, you would have to have a way to be able to add/remove the bobbin..
